Veil I, 2024
Death Valley National Park, California, USA
light, water, salt

Light sculpture temporarily installed in Death Valley’s Badwater Basin. This basin is known for being the lowest point in North America and it is usually a barren salt flat. The recent rains have created an incredibly shallow lake that stretches out for miles. The experience of walking on this water was unreal - you don’t know where the water stops and the sky begins. This photograph was taken during that brief moment of time where artificial light coexists with the fading light of day. It’s the transitory spaces and times where all the interesting stuff happens.
